Rick Young

Biography

Rick has extensive experience in the asset servicing industry dating back to 1990, with Wells Fargo Investment Advisors (Barclays Global Investors). He was the Chief Operating Officer for BGI, Australia, until 1998, when he returned to the US and was instrumental in the deal to sell the middle and back offices business lines to Investors Bank and Trust. At IBT, Rick was the head of the California business which continued after the State Street purchase. Rick built several business lines including a derivative valuation service. He was an executive leader for State Street’s collective, U.S. institutional and insurance lines of business. Rick joined the Midwest Trust Family of Companies in 2019.

Kristy Perez

Biography

Kristy has more than 35 years of institutional trust banking experience leading a variety of business lines for financial organizations, specializing in custody/safekeeping, securities lending, asset management and trust services. She is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the company, including strategic planning, service standards, the team, relationship management, internal and external support, compliance, business development, partnerships, and service providers. Kristy has a background in managing administrative functions in consideration of internal and external audit standards, as well as regulatory requirements. She has extensive experience with organizing and implementing enterprise-related transactions.

Education

Kristy attended DeVry Institute of Technology for Business and System Analysis. She is an active member of the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans and is the past president of the Las Vegas Western Pension and Benefits Conference and the Las Vegas Chapter of the American Business Women’s Association. Kristy serves as a Director on the Board of the Military Order of the Purple Heart Foundation and a Board Member of the Youth Music Academy Foundation.

Michael Hensler

Biography

Michael Hensler has a long tenured relationship within the client service team, having joined the firm in 2001 as a Relationship Coordinator within the Retirement Plan Services business line. In 2007, Michael became the manager for Milwaukee’s Relationship Coordinators and began his involvement in various product review and implementation initiatives. In 2010, he was promoted to a Relationship Manager, serving both defined contribution and defined benefit plan clients. In 2014, Michael joined the senior Leadership team, assuming his current role as the manager of the relationship management team. Prior to his current role, Michael had worked with other financial services organizations and served as a credit manager for a Top 10 U.S. financial services organization and a customer service representative at a Milwaukee-area bank.

David (Dave) Gibowski

Biography

In his current position as a member of the senior Leadership team, Dave is Head of Account Managers and Head of Transitions. With more than 20 years of Taft-Hartley experience, Dave has extensive experience working with different areas within trust operations, using this experience to create and maintain customized service models for his clients. In his current roles, he is responsible for leading the Account Manager team, participating in OCC and other audits, providing Midwest Taft-Hartley Services representation at Taft-Hartley client events and serving the Great Lakes-based clients as the primary liaison between external contacts and Midwest.

Sammuel (Sam) Perez

Head of Relationship Coordination 

Biography

Sam has more than 19 years in the industry and is a member of the senior Leadership team. He currently is Head of Relationship Coordination where his primary responsibilities are to oversee the relationship coordination team. Sam started with the organization in 2005 as a Loan Processor, in 2006 transferred roles to the Trust Operations Group where he served as a Securities Desk trader for self-directed retirement accounts and later as an Investment Coordinator. He transitioned to Retirement Plan Services in 2010 as a Business Analyst and was later promoted into his current role. Sam has experience with servicing both Taft-Hartley and Institutional Trust and Custody clients as the primary liaison with external contacts.

Peter Madsen, CEBS®

Biography

Peter joined the firm in 2003 in the Recordkeeping department of Institutional Trust Services. In 2007, he moved to the Administration group where he supported clients and later took over the management of the Relationship Coordinator and Business Analyst groups. In 2015, Peter joined the senior Leadership team and assumed responsibility for Business Line Technology; later his role expanded to incorporate Securities Lending Operations and the remainder of Business Support, which includes the Fees, Accounting, Investment Performance, and Governance and Oversight groups.

Rachel Hartman

Biography

Rachel joined the firm in 2007 as an Accounting Manager for the trust company, leading a team of accounting professionals; she was then promoted in 2010 to Senior Finance Manager. During this time, she was involved in various process improvements and implementation initiatives. In 2016, Rachel joined the Institutional Trust Services line of business as a Senior Project Manager. Then, in 2024, Rachel joined the senior Leadership team and assumed her current role as the Head of Strategic Initiatives. Prior to assuming her current role, Rachel had worked for a Top Milwaukee Organization and served as a Financial Accounting Manager leading Accounting and Payroll integration projects.
